The High Priest

When we look at the last chapters of the Book of Exodus we find that Moses is up on the Mountain of Sinai in Arabia. The mountain has been marked out with marker stones so that no man was to step on the mountain when God was meeting with Moses. If man or beast crossed the line they were to be thrust through with a javelin and to be killed.

The people lead by Moses had just crossed the western leg of the Red Sea on dry land and where all the Egyptian army were drowned. Moses had gone up the mountain to receive from God rules to cover all the conduct of daily life for they had lived in Egypt where there was rules for everything in daily life

God had just declared that the Hebrew family was his choice of people to rule the nations of the earth. He declared that he would be their God and they would be his People. And over a period of time he laid down all the rules that they were to use to setting up the representaive form of government that would rule as the Stone Kingdom. They were to choose out leaders from among their own people.

God told Moses that his first selection of a high priest would be his brother Aaron and his sons. He gave Moses all the rules on how they were to worship in the Tabernacle that was to be built starting in just a few days. God described the clothes and how they were to dress when the High Priest was to enter in to represent the people before him in the inner sanctuary one time a year for the sins of all the people of Israel, the gentiles were not included.

In your mind frame a picture of a large rectangle area curtain off from the people and it only had one door to enter into to do the many things in the outer court that was divided from the most holy sanctuary by two sections. The twelve tribes were camped on the four sides of the tabernacle according to their tribes and each one had his place, the same place each time that the camp was set up until it moved again. There were three tribes on each of the four sides.

All the parts and furniture of the tabernacle have a spiritual meaning from the badger skins on the outside held up by planks with silver sockets and silver chains. That is all, the people could see each day. It was not a beautiful thing to look at with no stained glass windows or high steeples on each corner. It was not a personal thing that the high priest was doing, to enter in to the most holy sanctuary one time a year for the sins of the people. Those who lived near to the curtain might be able to hear the bells attached to the bottom border of the priestly garment. It is doubtful that today that anyone would want the job of high priest, for he had to be dressed just right, in exactly the manner, as it was described. The high priest removed his own garments, he was then washed and examined by the lesser priest, to see that he was prefect, with out a spot or blemish on the skin. He stood there naked for all to see, who function in the services in the preparing of him to make the trip into the sanctuary, which was only a few steps away and behind a curtain. All of that for just a few feet to walk and no one to show off to. He took with him a bowl of blood from the sacrifice, that had just been cut up in a manner as God had declared it to be. Have you ever smelled fresh blood right after an animal is slaughtered?

This now is the scene behind the curtain, that only he could do with no one watching him, he was unable to showoff to anyone and it was all done in absolute silence, which must have been thunderous. There was no roll of drums or the blowing of the trumpets, no TV camera’s to zoom in on his performance as he splattered blood all over himself, as he was all dressed in white linen with blue trim. He splattered his big toe and right ear. He spattered blood all over the golden table and the gold covered chest known as the Ark of the Covenant. What a waste of gold, the table was about fifty inches by twenty four inches wide and stood three feet tall. It sported the chest, of the same size, with a two-inch thick lid of solid gold and two cherubim of one piece of gold. Really! Do you think that it was necessary, to have all that gold, for just one high priest to come in once year for just a few minutes and splatter it with drying and decaying blood of a shed animal, which had just given its life for all of this. No one could see what was going on or even hear what God said to him when he came down in the shicana glory to meet with the representive of the people. It is doubtful that anyone felt anything himself when all of this was taking place. I know that they were not doing anything but listening to hear if the bells were still tinkling or had God killed the high priest/ and they had tied a rope around his ankle, to be able drag him out, if he died.

The people were not standing around outside the tabernacle praising the Lord or sing of hymns. No rolling of the drums or the lofty sounds of a pipe organ. They were not confessing their sins, which they had done for the past year. God did not require them to change their clothes or their manner of life, or give up all the things that they had been doing all year so that they would appear righteous to the gentile heathens they came in contact with. No one would know that their sins had just been forgiven for yet another year. They did not have to change what they drank or ate to be spiritual, nor did the women have to have long hair, nothing just plain nothing happened.

They went their way starting from that moment that the sins that they had done and probably, go right out and do again what they were forgiven of. They just had to trust that the sacrifice was sufficient and accepted and the high priest had been accepted before God. That the shedding of blood by the taking of life of a lamb was substitute of the thing to come. That one who had the credentials and was perfect and worth enough to settle the sin question once and for all. Jesus fulfilled and met all the requirements in every way. So we need to examine the manner of accepting the sacrifice that Jesus was for the salvation and redemption of the House of Israel. For he made the trip alone to the heavenly Holy of Holies to stand before the Father, having shed his blood that he might now splatter the heavenly altar. Had He not been perfect without a spot or blemish as our high priest the Father would have had to kill him at that time. He was accepted in every way and returned to earth to be the mediator of the fallen that he might restore the House of Israel to its rightful place, for she had been divorced because of idol worship. And he put in us his spirit that we might be staff members to rule and reign with him over all the gentile heathens. He had chosen the House of Israel to rule and reign for he said he came only for the House of Israel. That when he sent out his learners, after instructing them for three and one half years that they were to go out among the gentile to search and sift that he might not loose one of the house of Israel dispersed among the gentiles.

The manner of worship of the church has corrupted the knowledge of the House of Israel for the blessing of Abraham has never been transferred to the gentiles nor will it ever be, for it has only been to those he chose out so long ago to rule over the gentile nations of the earth.

Starting with the word “Church” it never appears in the Greek text and gives the impression that everything is centered on it as it goes out to make converts of the gentiles world wide. That everything is based on our faith and our performance outside listening for the bells to see if the Blood had been accepted.

God laid down all types of rules for the control of physical world around for the safety and health of the people but no where do we see that it has anything to do with our spiritual lives, we only have one thing to do and that it is to accept the work of one worth enough for the whole that the parts might be redeemed, but the parts are not redeemed to make up the whole. Trust is the only thing we have to do and not try to have faith to make the parts right that the whole might be saved. Our only assignment is to go out into the byways of this world looking for those of the House of Israel with the good message that they are to rule and reign with the Lord Jesus. Tell them that they are to return home for the place prepared for them, for God said that he would sift the nations looking for those of the House of Israel that they are set free of the curse. As the book of Peter states so clearly “that by his strips you {the house of Israel} are healed of your infidelity and adultery which is idol worshipping”.

Jesus is the High priest of the people of God known as the Hebrews and the one family that was divorced, The High Priest broke down the barrier between God and his people so that we no longer have need of an earthly High Priest but a heavenly High Priest that makes mediation between God and the House of Israel. He gave the Holy Spirit to the whole house of Israel that they could be lead directly. The House of Israel are a purchased people to the Lord. In the Old Testament God says that he gave Egypt and Ethiopia for his people, in the New Testament Jesus was the price paid to save and redeem his people that he chose from the foundation of the earth some 15 billion years ago now. “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which is lost.” That which was lost was the House of Israel and is now saved and redeemed unto the Lord himself. “Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of God; but to the others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.”
